Thank you Outspokin’ for organizing so many group rides!
I just want to express my observation on the last couple of rides that the traffic laws are being blatantly ignored. For example at four way stops when vehicles are present or approaching, riders are running the stop sign even if a vehicle was stopped at the stop sign first.
When I ride solo, I run stop signs in desolate areas when no vehicles are present. And this is illegal, dangerous, and can incite vehicle road rage against cyclists. I also could be hit by a car I do not see running a stop sign just like me.
Regardless of what vehicles do to us cyclists shouldn't we remain law abiding, courteous, set a good example, promote goodwill (sharing the road), and practice safety for all?
roadie,
Sorry it's taken so long for me to respond to this post. I haven't been able to keep up with this Forum as well as I have wanted to. Our website has been updated now, so I can see immediately when someone responds and I can address issues as soon as they arise.
I'm not sure which ride or which intersection you are referring to when you're talking about running stop signs. I can a$ure you that on our group rides we try to maintain the utmost level of safety and self-preservation while obeying the rules of the road. If you've got an instance, a certain ride leader, or a particular intersection that's got you worried, please contact me about it and we'll try to address it with the groups that are heading out on the road.
Thanks,
